In Addition to his work in ensembles, Jason is known for his intricate and colorful performances as a soloist. Drawing influence and repertoire from Jazz, classical, and Brazilian music, Jason has developed a unique solo voice on his 7-string classical guitar. His arrangements and improvisations incorporate block-chord/melody techniques from jazz masters such as Joe Pass, the counterpoint and timbral variety of great classical guitar music, the powerful grooves of Brazilian luminaries such as Garoto, and the harmonic inventiveness and lyricism of his mentor and friend Gene Bertoncini.
